Unilock Beacon Hill XL Patio with Gas Fire Pit in Glen Arbor

This one came together really well. We installed a full Unilock Beacon Hill XL paver patio in Glen Arbor, and the finished result is exactly what a well-planned outdoor space should look like - clean lines, a strong focal point, and a finish that holds up without a lot of upkeep.

The Beacon Hill XL format is one of our favorite products to work with. The large-format slabs have a natural, weathered stone look that photographs well but honestly looks even better in person. We used dark soldier-course edging to frame the field pavers, which gives the whole surface a sharp, defined border that ties everything together without overcomplicating it.

The centerpiece is a High Format gas fire pit set within a circular Unilock herringbone inlay. That circle detail is what makes this patio stand out. Cutting and setting pavers to transition cleanly from a large-format field into a tight herringbone pattern inside a perfect circle - that's the kind of detail work that separates a finished patio from a great one. The fire pit sits right in the middle of it, and the whole setup is built to actually be used, not just look good in photos.

We also ran a paver walkway along the side of the building using the same Beacon Hill XL material. Matching the edging and the stone throughout keeps the whole property feeling cohesive. The white river rock border alongside the walk adds contrast and keeps maintenance minimal - no mowing, no edging, no fuss.

Unilock products are built to handle Michigan's freeze-thaw cycles without cracking or shifting when properly installed. That's a big deal up here. A patio like this isn't just an aesthetic upgrade - it's a long-term investment in a space you'll actually use.
